Seaford's Remembrance Sunday service is at 10.30am on 8 November. Lewes, Newhaven and Peacehaven have not published 2026 times; here is how each ran last year.

Remembrance Sunday is on 8 November 2026, and Armistice Day falls on Wednesday 11 November. So far only one town in the district has published its arrangements: Seaford, where the service starts at 10.30am at the war memorial on Sutton Road.

Lewes, Newhaven and Peacehaven have not yet posted their 2026 times. Each runs a parade and service every year, and the pattern is set out below from the councils’ own pages about previous years. We will update this page as each one is announced.

Town 2026 What happened last time it was published
Seaford Confirmed: Sun 8 Nov, 10.30am, war memorial, Sutton Road
Lewes Not yet published 2024: parade from about 2.30pm, wreaths at 2.45pm, service 3pm
Newhaven Not yet published 2025: service at St Michael’s, then parade to Memorial Green
Peacehaven Not yet published 2025: gather 10.15am by The Joff, parade 10.30am

Seaford: confirmed for 2026

Seaford Town Council published both services on 29 September:

  • Remembrance Sunday, Sunday 8 November, from 10.30am at Seaford War Memorial, Sutton Road.
  • Commonwealth Service of Remembrance, Tuesday 10 November, from 10.30am at Seaford Cemetery, Alfriston Road.

“Everyone is welcome to attend these important services of remembrance and reflection,” the council says. It has not published a parade route or any road closures for the Sunday.

Lewes: 2026 not yet announced

Lewes Town Council has said nothing about Remembrance this year. The parade is organised by the Royal British Legion, and the council’s most recent published account is from 2024, when the day ran like this:

  • The parade formed at about 2.30pm at the Westgate Street car park and moved up the High Street.
  • The Mayor and councillors joined at about 2.40pm for a 2.45pm wreath laying and dedication at the War Memorial.
  • The parade then went back up the High Street to a 3pm service at St Michael’s Church, lasting about half an hour, followed by tea and biscuits.

On Armistice Day that year the council held a two minute silence at the War Memorial at 11am, and the roads around the Town Hall were closed from 10.55am to 11.15am so that people could gather. The council’s own write-up afterwards records a maroon at 11am, the Last Post, and a Royal British Legion wreath.

Lewes holds its Remembrance on a Sunday afternoon, while Seaford and Peacehaven hold theirs in the morning. Treat the 2024 timings as a guide, not a promise, until the 2026 notice is out.

Remembrance in Lewes also reaches into Bonfire week. On 5 November Lewes Borough Bonfire Society’s first procession at 6.10pm goes to the War Memorial, as it does every year. See Lewes Bonfire Night.

Newhaven: 2026 not yet announced

Newhaven Town Council’s report on 2025 says the service, led by Rev Mike Milmine at St Michael’s Church, was followed by a parade down to Memorial Green for the two minutes’ silence and wreath laying, with wreaths laid at all three of Newhaven’s memorials. The council did not publish start times in that report.

Peacehaven: 2026 not yet announced

Peacehaven Town Council set out its 2025 arrangements four days beforehand, on 5 November, so expect the 2026 notice late:

  • Participants gathered near The Joff, Roderick Avenue, from 10.15am.
  • The parade moved off at 10.30am to the Peacehaven War Memorial for the service and wreath laying.
  • On Armistice Day there was a short act of remembrance at the war memorial from 10.45am, with the two minute silence at 11am.

Poppies in Lewes this November

The-Stitchery Shop in the Riverside building, 12-14 High Street, BN7 2RE, is hanging a cascade of handmade poppies over the central staircase for the whole of November, free to view Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4.30pm. Donated poppies are needed by 24 October, and they are sold afterwards for the Royal British Legion. Felt poppy workshops run on Tuesdays 3 and 10 November, 10am to 11.30am, at £15 a person (Lewes Town Council listing).

Parking and roads

None of the four councils has published a road closure for Remembrance Sunday 2026. In Lewes the parade uses the High Street, and on a Sunday the district council’s car parks are free, which makes them the easy choice: see parking in Lewes. For anything else shut on the roads, see Lewes roadworks and travel.
