We checked 8 places to buy a real Christmas tree near Lewes, from a Barcombe farm barn to Wilderness Wood, for 2026 dates and prices. Updated November 2026.
There are eight places to buy a real Christmas tree for a Lewes, Seaford or Peacehaven home in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening dates, prices and delivery. Most people will land on the Sussex Christmas Barn at Barcombe, the nearest grower; Fox Hill Christmas Trees at Lunces Common, which publishes its 2026 prices; and Wilderness Wood at Hadlow Down, where you can cut your own. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.
We have not bought a tree from any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the seller says it does, with its own prices where it publishes them. Two of the eight are inside Lewes district; the rest are a 10 to 12 mile drive into the Weald or up to the Downs above Brighton, or they deliver.
Prices for a tree of about 6ft

In Lewes district
1. Sussex Christmas Barn, Barcombe
The Sussex Christmas Barn is in an old farm barn at Gipps Farm, on Spithurst Road between Barcombe and Newick, about six miles north of Lewes, on the 2,500 acre Sutton Hall Farm estate. It says most of the trees it sells are grown on the farm: it planted its first 20,000 in 2017 and has added 20,000 a year since, and it buys in taller British-grown trees from the Infinity Christmas Tree Group until its own are ready.
It sells Norway spruce, Nordmann, Fraser and Douglas fir and blue spruce, with each tree pre-priced and colour-labelled by height, and it runs a click and collect shop online. The barn says it reopened for the season on 30 October, with a pop-up cafe run by Bangs Food Truck every day until 20 December.
It takes cards but not American Express, and says a wheelchair can reach most parts of the shop.
Open Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm; Sat 10am to 5pm; Sun 10am to 4pm; pot-grown trees from 1 November, cut trees from Sat 21 November
Price click and collect from £28 (Norway spruce), £35 (Nordmann fir), £45 (Fraser fir and blue spruce)

It is a member of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, and calls the Norway spruce “our firm favourite” for its traditional smell.
It sells Nordmann, Norway, blue spruce and Fraser fir, and says every tree is individually priced against the guide on its 2026 price list. It also sells freshly dug potted trees up to 5ft, small container-grown trees, wreaths, stands, logs and kindling, and says it delivers locally.
This year it opens on 21 November, which it calls “early”, for people who want a tree sooner.
Its website also carries a leaflet on recycling your tree after Christmas to raise money for St Peter and St James Hospice.

The trees are shown in a large marquee, so the whole sale is under cover, and the farm describes the scene as “some beautiful lights, the smell of an open fire, Christmas songs playing”. It sells tree stands too, and says to follow the signs until you meet Errol the emu at the gate.
Its £10 delivery covers BN1, BN2, BN3, BN5, BN6, BN41 to BN43, BN45 and RH15, so it reaches Ditchling and Hassocks but not Lewes, Newhaven, Peacehaven or Seaford.

You can choose a tree in its field on 7, 8, 14 or 15 November, between 10am and 4pm with no booking, then come back from 21 November with your own saw to cut it down. Or you can buy a pre-cut local tree in the courtyard from 28 November.
Its Christmas fayres, with local makers and wood-fired pizza, run on 28 and 29 November and 5, 6, 12 and 13 December.
The cut-your-own field has no step-free access, though the courtyard is hard-standing. Its prices include VAT and are measured from the cut to the top of the tree.

It says it has trees up to 12ft there, which you can cut from the field with a borrowed saw or buy pre-cut from the barn, though it warns that cut your own “is very limited at Five Ashes this year due to planting rotation”.
It sells Nordmann, Norway spruce, Fraser fir and what it calls “Farmer Toms Famous Sussex Fir”, and has a Christmas shop with decorations, gifts and lights.
It suggests bringing your own handsaw if you want to cut a tree, as its few saws are often in use.

After Christmas
The council collects real trees cut up in the brown-lid garden waste bin, and last winter it ran free drop-off points in Lewes, Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford. The 2026 dates are on our Lewes Christmas bin collections page as soon as the council publishes them.
For the rest of the season, see our Lewes Christmas markets, Christmas shopping in Lewes, Christmas dinner in Lewes and ice rinks near Lewes guides, what’s on in Lewes this month, things to do in Lewes and the local business directory.
How we chose
We looked for every seller of real Christmas trees within about 12 miles of Lewes that has a 2026 season or 2026 prices online, then read each one’s own website on 5 November 2026 for opening dates, prices, delivery and what it says about its trees. Sellers whose pages still showed only an old season, with no 2026 dates or prices, were left out. Distances are straight-line from Lewes town centre. We have not visited, and nothing here is paid for. Run a place that should be here, or spot something that has changed? Email newsdesk@lewespost.co.uk. Taken a good photograph of any of these places? Email it to newsdesk@lewespost.co.uk and we will add it with your name as the credit.
